Plant Department Supervisor
General Purpose:

This position is responsible for the implementation of manufacturing and delivery schedules ensuring timely and efficient production of high quality products. Supports and promotes our Lean Manufacturing Initiatives to improve cost, quality, and safety and service objectives. Lead teams and functional support personnel through rapid and ongoing schedule changes.  Engage and support continuous improvement efforts, and lead team members in providing the required level of service required for high quality customer service.This position is responsible for the implementation of manufacturing and delivery schedules ensuring timely and efficient production of high quality products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinates with internal personnel to attain delivery, cost and quality of service objectives
  • Organizes/supervises daily manufacturing functions of the department, ensuring timely completion of production schedules and production of high quality goods
  • Plans, organizes and supervises the production function of the department/s ensuring timely and cost effective delivery of high quality products in a fast-paced environment
  • Identifies/implements systems and procedures designed to improve operations/cost effectiveness
  • Reviews/retains information for daily management reports and coordinates with office and management staff to provide information on scheduled deliveries and product status
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in the field; and attends appropriate training programs to remain current on manufacturing, health and safety issues
  • Recruits, interviews and makes selection recommendations.  Provides initial and on-going training and evaluation to assigned production personnel
  • Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and employee relations issues
  • Collaborates with other managers, supervisors and leadership to identify opportunities of improvement

Education/Experience:
  • Some college level coursework or specialized training
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a lean/continuous improvement manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate spreadsheet and word processing skills, proficient in use of Microsoft Office
  • Adequate knowledge of new processes, procedures and project planning related directly to quality systems management

Job Factors/Work Environment:
  • Work is active in nature with frequent walking of manufacturing plant, warehouse and distribution areas
  • Maintain appropriate PPE for the plant
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds

Position Qualifications:
  • Experience in a production environment or lean improvement facility
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and work well independently or on a team
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Systems knowledge (MS Office, Outlook)
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
